Goodbye Trout Lake. We will miss you! But we are off on our adventure of a lifetime!

When you are planning to move to Mexico for a year, I think it is safe to say that you should expect the unexpected. Especially if you have 6 young kids and are driving the entire distance packed into a suburban. The pictures I got before we left don't really do justice because you can't even see the trunk space. It's a very tight fit, but we managed to fit everything we wanted into the suburban and cargo carrier.

Now, we didn't leave in the morning like we had wanted to. We didn't even leave mid-afternoon. We finally rolled out around 6:30 thanks to my parents who so generously helped us out so much today and will be doing some more cleaning at our house tomorrow ( thanks Mom and Dad!) It feels great to be on the road and finally starting this new adventure. But it would be easier if we were all healthy. So far we have two kids with diarrhea, one of whom threw up about 2 hours into our trip. Thankfully we were prepared with barf bags and anti-nausea medicine (we at least got a bit of a warning the night before that a stomach bug was hitting and picked up anti-diarrhea medication 30 minutes into our trip as well. Considering the past month that we have had, I'm getting decent at rolling with the punches.

We drove as far as Bend, Oregon this evening. The plan is to make it to Chico, California during day 2. Hopefully kids willing be doing better in the morning. They sure were tired! (By the way, in case you didn't know this, Hannah is not great at sharing a bed! I'm glad she wanted to sleep with Naomi tonight!) Stay tuned for day two...
